Some Recommendations

I hope your weekend is off to a great start!  I didn’t have much to write about, but I wanted to share a few things that I’ve been enjoying lately in case you are interested in checking them out.

First, I finished my study on Psalms a few weeks ago following the wonderful devotional book written by Warren Wiersbe entitled “Prayer, Praise and Promises.”  My family has been watching the NBC series, “A.D.: The Bible Continues,” and it inspired me to study the Book of Acts.  I found a great resource that I am reading through called simply “Acts: A 10 Week Bible Study” by Darren Hibbs.  I was able to download this for free through something called the Kindle Lending Library which is pretty cool.  It doesn’t work with my iPad Kindle app, but I’ve got an old Kindle that I use for these.  Anyway, I’m reading a chapter a day and Hibbs does a great job of explaining the background which helps you understand it better.  I’m about 2/3rds through it and have learned a great deal.

For those of you who like Contemporary Christian Music, I’ve been enjoying two recently released albums by a couple of fantastic songwriters.  First, Matt Maher’s album, “Saints and Sinners” is terrific.  I’ve sung his version of “Because He Lives” off this album for church and I’m actually doing a new song called “Abide With Me” during the 11am worship hour this Sunday.  Also, I just started listening to Matthew West’s new album “Live Forever” in the last couple of days.  My early favorites there are “Oh, Me of Little Faith” and “Born For This.”

What have you read or listened to recently that you enjoyed?  Leave a comment on the blog and let me know!
